Author Book Reading: Opal’s Springtime Birdhouse with Emily Matheis
Bang! Whack! Whirr!
It’s time for a birdhouse-building contest!
Opal’s friends all have endless ideas on how to make their constructions stand out. There are bells, pom-poms, basketballs, and many more materials to use―and yet Opal still feels stuck.
Maybe a simple, sturdy piece wood…a few nails and screws will be just right. But when the judges don’t pick Opal’s birdhouse, she may still discover that her humble home is just right for someone else.
Emily Matheis is a two-time, award-winning picture book author through the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), romance writer, and recipient of the Maggie Award in Contemporary Romance. She writes books for both children and adults with characters in intelligent, adaptable, and exemplifying roles.
Book Signing, Jennifer Bonn “What I Hope for You, A Grandmother’s Wishes”
Jennifer Bonn recently retired from 40 years of teaching to spend more time with her family, and to help with her grandson. She has always been passionate about writing, and when each of her three children was born she began journals for them. When they turned 18 they received their book. When her grandson Parker was born she wanted to do something different, so she wrote a children’s book for him about what she hoped life would be like for him. Jennifer loves to run, read, and play with her border collie Bandit. She has enjoyed 43 years of marriage with her husband John.
